Carving poetry out of newspaper clippings

For me, a great creative way to stimulate ideas and spark new writing is this classic technique of cutting out different words and phrases from newspapers and magazines. Then arranging them and gluing them into fresh sentences on the page.

For whatever reason, they always seem to get to the heart of things and tap into my inner wavelengths in a really unique way. There is something almost subconscious in the selection process and the way they present themselves for selection in fascinating combinations on the page. It feels equally delightful that they also end up becoming these really beautiful, random pieces of art too.

This particular one has a lyricism to it that I love and really speaks to me right now during this transitional time.
